Monday morning January 6 Hayhurst Neighborhood Association is holding a traffic safety vigil for schools' return from winter break. You are welcome to join us. The location at 45th & Vermont is the intersection of Multnomah, Maplewood, and Hayhurst neighborhoods.
Help promote responsible driving to help keep students safe as they walk, bike, and bus to school. The Hayhurst Neighborhood Association will be conducting a Safety Vigil as our neighborhood schools return from winter break.
We want to remind drivers that students and their families will be on our neighborhood streets walking and biking to and from school. Even though important safety improvements have been made to SW Vermont Street, drivers still need to be aware to slow down and watch for pedestrians and bicyclists. Our goal is to remind drivers to watch for schoolchildren and families walking and biking to school. Safety Vigil participants will be standing on the corner of SW 45th & Vermont, near the Southwest Community Center. The Hayhurst NA will keep all participants safe during the vigil by providing safety vests, flashlights, and signs to all participants.
The Portland Police Bureau will be present to enforce speed limits in the school safety zone on SW Vermont Street
Everyone is welcome to join us!
