BULKY ITEM DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING EVENT
Saturday August 24
10am-12pm
LOCATION: Multnomah Presbyterian Church Parking Lot
7555 SW 45th Ave Portland
Neighbors bring bulky items to be re-homed, recycled or disposed of. This is for items too big to fit in your garbage bin.
In order to lessen our impact to the environment, MNA has partnered with the following organizations to re-home or recycle eligible items. Habitat for Humanity Restore will be taking all furniture and household items that still have use for others. Anfield & Sons Metal Recycling will be in attendance accepting all metal, appliances and pressurized vessels like propane tanks for proper recycling and FreeGeek will accept all working and non-working electronics for reuse and recycling. See complete list of what is accepted by FreeGeek and what is not (click here).
All other items will be collected and disposed of.
Suggested donation is $25 a car, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
This event is first come, first served, and will close when the dumpsters are full. Anyone arriving after the event is closed, even if this is before 12 PM, will be given a flyer with additional resources of where to take their items. Street access is limited, please arrive no earlier than 10 AM.
Brought to you by the Multnomah Neighborhood Association Livability Committee, through a grant from Oregon Metro. Also in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Restore, Anfield & sons Metal Recyclers and FreeGeek. Special thanks to Multnomah Presbyterian Church for hosting this event.

HOW TO PREPARE A DONATION
Please bring as little packaging as possible and recycle any additional equipment boxes through your curbside recycling program.
In order for Free Geek to focus its efforts on electronic reuse and recycling, we ask that you dispose of your paper manuals and software collections at home. Due to licensing restrictions, we are generally unable to reuse donated software; our security protocol requires us to route these disks through our intensive data security process, so these donations take valuable time away from activities that support our mission. In addition, because of their low reuse value, paper manuals are typically sorted into curbside bins.
You can help speed up the processing and recycling of your equipment by:
Untangling all cords and cables and coiling them up with a rubber band or twist tie.
Attaching power adapters to their associated equipment
Turn Off Activation Lock for Mobile Devices
If you would like your device to be reused it is critical to turn off the activation lock. Even if your device is damaged, it may be worth repairing as long as it is not locked.
FreeGeek accepts almost anything that plugs in or uses electricity, including tablets, printers, TV’s, audio/video systems, related accessories and much more. See guidelines and learn how to prepare your donation below. This event is free and any donations will be split between MNA and FreeGeek.
